...

sSometimes designers push their inspiration way too much ahead or to a point where their creations will never-EVER become trends (thanks God).
A day like Halloween is perfect to revisit some of the darkest spots of fashion...
Happy Halloween! xx

Misunderstandings also happen in fashion

Today I discovered a website that was created to make people aware of a fashion crime happening these days : the use leggins or tights as substitute for pants.

I thought the initiative was quite relevant since I noticed myself a few times that the fitness way of wearing nothing on tights was hitting the street.

The truth is, Giirrrls, outside the gym leggings are meant to be used for layering, not as only bottom half clothing of an outfit. It's not flattering - no matter how great your leggs are - it'll just look fashion douchy.

Even Sienna Miller can't get away with it... (even though she thinks wearing a diaper over it will make it decent)

So, for those who agree with me, you can check out www.tightsarenotpants.com - where you also have the possibility to download and print Tights Are Not Pants stickers to distribute to all these naked leggs that you bumb into...

Alexander McQueen : a look in the backstage of the latest show + the news of The Hells Angels' case

Alexander McQueen's label was proving last month at the Paris FW that the designer's unique creative and innovative spirit goes on and beyond his tragic demise last February.
I caught a few images on Vogue's report of the backstage to show a closer look on the details.
Starting with the hair...The ones who, like me, came to the conclusion that carrying out successfully a hair brushing requires at least 3 arms (or way too much patience) I wouldn't bother to try this hairdo...

Between antique warriors and modern well-behaved girl, the 2 braids are definetely being recreated.

And a nude makeup to leave all protagonism to the couture...

The golden printed nails go perfectly well with the warm tones of his collection (and the golden shoes!)

Now moving on to the latest McQueen news that The Hells Angels Motorcycle Corporation are suing the British fashion house accusing them of misusing its trademark winged death heads symbol.

They named the £895 'Hells Angels' jacquard box dress, a £300 knuckle-duster ring in the complaint, as well as a scarf and a handbag (here below) from the late designer's final collection, created shortly before his suicide.

The complaint argues that the symbol has been used by the Hells Angels since at least 1948 and is protected by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. "From decades of notoriety, the HAMC marks have acquired very widespread public recognition, consequently they evoke strong and immediate reactions whenever used," it reads.

Fritz Clapp, an attorney for the Hells Angels, told the Financial Times that they want the mimicked symbols "out of the market, since they represent membership insignia, and anyone wearing them would be considered an imposter by club members."

... Oh yeah. Because nothing says "high fashion" like a Harley.

Camel boots

These ankle-boots were designed by Michel Perry (Paris). The artist who began as a painter, ended up creating very chic high-heels boots, seen at great fashion icons' feet such as Carrie in Sex in the City. His identity: rock and romantic.

Abercrombie and Fitch opens a flagship store in Brussels

The time when you'd go to NY with a empty suitcase with the idea of cleaning out A&F's stores (and co.) seems now as far as childhood memories... At first, A&F opened a store in Antwerp and in March 2011, they will be landing in Brussels! Just on time for the Spring collection... For once our close neighbors might get jealous of how cool Belgium is.

-But I'd say, to be even cooler, Brussels should have Victoria Secret, American Apparel, GAP, Saks, Sephora,... to name just a few -

But let's not spoil the good news with our insatiable fashion appetite. From March on we'll go shop n'dance on A&F's playlist in their 1600 m2 store in Boulevard Waterloo...

Discover this week the last Topshop collection by Kate Moss

After three years and 14 collections, Kate Moss for Topshop will stop to exist as a regular line. The Kate Moss collaboration was launched in 2007 and earlier this year, Topshop cut the frequency of the collections from six per year to just two. Moss' final full collection for the high street store was revealed on the 25th of October, but there will be series of smaller capsule ranges going forward...

The main reason of the split seems that after a very successful start the sales had drastically gone down and the “Kate effect” had pretty much died out. Besides, the collection wasn't so convincing, Kate Moss has a undeniable personal style but she is not a fashion designer. Indeed, her collection largely amounted to items from her own closet that she was just copying. She also seemed uninterested in her line, preferring to wear the originals than the copies (outside of occasional promotional events).

Acardia boss Philip Green said they weren't looking for another muse to replace Kate Moss. Apparently Green's 19 years-old daughter, Chloé, is going to be the new image for Topshop campaigns.

Hot scarves for this F/W

When it's night at 5pm, your hair's electric, your heels slip like clumsy penguins on ice-floe and you're still waiting for the invention of street-heating; it's about time to start making the most of the Winter...
This is when fashion happens to make your life better, again, bringing out a range of wearable duvets we name scarves.

This F/W, according to strongly relevant sources, the scarf to wear will be what they call SNOOD, meaning circle or tube scarf, that simply doesn't have an end. So you just toss it around your neck like a necklace and then you can wrap it around a couple of times or drape it to make a funky shape... It's gonna be so much fun.

Cashmere tube scarf Roger Gray, apparently for men... but I'd say unisex.

Infinity scarf by Roxy Glow

Tube scarf unknow, too bad

Red tube scarf by Spratters and Jayne

Lambswhool/cashmere DKNY tuve scarf,
to wear long or wrapped twice around your neck

Fur tube scraf Helmut Lang
which should costs only a little more than your monthly rent but looks like you could sleep in it and spent pretty much all your winter hibernation in it

ASOS' fake fur scarves,
looks comfy like a bear hug...

And these two leopard donuts are actually Yves Saint Laurent's

Louis Vuitton's leopard headscarf
---

Leopard print scarves and shawls are for me the less tacky way to "animalize" your look. Shoes and garments are little more risky to combine with other colors and accessories.
And this season all the brands seem to have created a bunch of them, at all prices, in all different colors and fabrics.

Dream, Wear, Love
